RIP John McCarthy, AI Professor and LISP Inventor

I'd like to respect the late Dr. McCarthy's life with a streaming video of the Lighthill Debate from 1973. http://www.aiai.ed.ac.uk/events/lighthill1973/1973-BBC-Lighthill-Controversy.mov I question whether the ensuing AI winter because of the present public sentiment delayed the Raymond Kurzweil's singularity phenomenon. I suspect technology will disrupt, transform and force the issue of social engineering, i.e., societal structures of work. This is an entirely separate blog unto itself. I regret not having had the pleasure to attend a McCarthy lecture. YouTube is becoming more useful and necessary every time a great mind leaves us. RIP John
